Sürücüler dikkat! Trakya’da ortalama hız tespiti devrede

Çanakkale, Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ provinces have installed and put into operation a total of 33 Average Speed Detection Systems.

Erdoğan DEMİR / EDİRNE (İGFA) – With the aim of preventing traffic accidents caused by speeding on highways where accidents occur frequently and ensuring safe traffic flow, a total of 33 Average Speed Detection Systems, whose works have been completed within the boundaries of Çanakkale, Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ provinces, have been put into service in accordance with the Ministry’s approval dated October 2, 2023.

The data of speed violations has started to be converted into administrative penalty decision reports by the Regional Traffic and Inspection Branch Directorates as of October 2nd.

In the roads where the Average Speed Detection Systems are installed, monitoring the radar vehicle in traffic is becoming a thing of the past. Drivers will now try to keep their speed under control not only in the area where the radar vehicle is present, but also along the entire route.

In order to inform drivers in the corridors where speed limits are present, necessary markings are placed at the entrances of the speed corridors. The aim of the speed violation control carried out with the Average Speed Detection Systems is to strengthen the traffic safety perception on drivers and increase the perceived risk of being caught.

WHAT IS AN AVERAGE SPEED DETECTION SYSTEM?

The speed and time information of the vehicle entering from the first point, along with the captured image of the vehicle, is stored in memory. When the vehicle passes through the second point, the same information is collected again and the distance travelled is divided by the time taken between the two points to determine the average speed.
